Storage measurements, retention, and cancellation
1 GB is 2³⁰ bytes (a gibibyte); Ultra is 1024 GB (1 TB). Removing a folder stops future backups but does not instantly free its stored copies. Retained files can keep counting until they are purged. See Retention and Cancellation & refunds.

Backup. CloudSync keeps recoverable, encrypted copies of the folders you choose on one computer. It does not sync files between devices, and there is no web file browser — restore happens in the desktop app.
Which operating systems does CloudSync support?
Windows (x64 setup) and Linux (Debian package and AppImage). There is no macOS, iOS, or Android client today — the app runs on one Windows or Linux computer.
How do I subscribe and activate?
Install the app, choose a plan inside it, and complete checkout there (monthly, in USD, processed by Stripe). Afterwards you receive a CSYNC activation key by email and once on the checkout success page. Enter the key in the app to activate the computer; one subscription covers one computer.
Can I move my subscription to another computer?
Yes. Deactivate the old computer in Settings, install CloudSync on the new one, and activate it with your CSYNC key (or a replacement from support). To decrypt and restore your existing backups, import your original 24-word recovery phrase in Settings → Device — a newly generated phrase will not open old backups.
What happens when I reach my storage limit?
Backup pauses when the plan is full. It resumes once you free space, move to a larger plan, or explicitly enable overage in the app — overage is opt-in and off by default, so nothing is ever charged beyond your plan price unless you turn it on.
What happens when I delete a file or remove a folder?
Files you delete locally stay restorable from your backup until they are purged; purged files cannot be recovered afterwards. Removing a folder stops future backups of it, but its already-backed-up copies are retained and can keep counting toward your storage until they are purged. Full details are in the Retention summary.
Can I restore my files after losing my computer?
Yes, if you have your CSYNC activation key (or request a replacement from support) and your 24-word recovery phrase: install CloudSync on the new computer, activate, import the original phrase, then restore from the Restore page.
What is the difference between the activation key and the recovery phrase?
The CSYNC activation key proves you paid and binds the subscription to a computer — it cannot decrypt files. The 24-word recovery phrase is the decryption key for your backups. Anyone with the phrase can decrypt every backup, and support will never ask for it. See Security for the full explanation.
What happens if I lose my recovery phrase?
If the original computer still works, open Settings → Device → Show recovery phrase in the app and save it now. If the computer is gone, wiped, or the app data was deleted and the phrase is lost, your backups cannot be decrypted — not by support, not by anyone. There is no backdoor and no reset.
How do I cancel? Are refunds available?
Cancel anytime from your subscription management link, reached from the app or your purchase email. Access continues until the end of the already-paid month, and your backup catalog is removed 14 days after your paid period ends — export or restore anything you need before that. Refund requests are handled case by case; see Cancellation & refunds.
How do I contact support?
